“What is happening in Gaza is unacceptable,” von der Leyen told the Parliament in Strasbourg. “We will propose sanctions on the extremist ministers and on violent settlers.”

The EU is Israel’s largest trading partner, accounting for 32 percent of its total trade in 2024, so any possible suspension will have a major effect on the Israeli economy. [...] [T]otal exports [have been] amounting to €26.7 billion in 2024.

That might do, as a start. I'm personally all for collective punishment, strip them of money to rebuild the destruction and right to return for the refugees who are stateless in Lebanon / Syria / Jordan. All illegal settlements to be transferred to the rightful owners of the land, no more alliya for Americans and Europeans until these issues are settled.
Obviously this is not going to happen, but a man can wish for some justice in this world.

I don't get it, what does "pause payments" mean, who stops paying whom and how much money are we talking about?
