Israel gets unprecedented privileges in draft defense bill

Congress is preparing to give Israel unprecedented privileges via the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act. Section 219 of the draft NDAA directs the secretary of defense to expand integration of the U.S. and Israeli military sectors. If Section 219 becomes law, U.S. and Israeli militaries will be joined at the hip.
How much longer until Isreal can just start drafting Americans citizens to fight and die for it in some holy war genocide?

Most democracies would have toppled the government with protests already. It is fascinating how much the American public can take.
Would they though? A lot of so-called democracies are turning more and more right-wing since they’re in a similar situation with far-right parties dragging “the center” towards the right and actual left-wing parties made mostly irrelevant due to the influence of the rich. Trump and gang have the subtlety of a hydrogen bomb, but that doesn’t mean other countries aren’t also suffering from rampant corruption just because the politicians have more decorum.
At some point the people not in charge need to be blamed -Signed by wealthy people in charge.

Simply put, the concept that the common person has an influence on politics is spurious.
Do elections happen? Yes. Do you get to vote? Yes. Does any the policies that you want matter to the person you voted for? No.
This is what is meant by democracy just being a window dressing. It is a facade used to placate people who can’t see the bigger picture. A useful distraction for rubes. A convient lie for those who are in charge.
Your vote is not equivalent to a dollar. The US government runs on money. You either have enough to influence or you don’t. Most people don’t.
Perhaps in a system not dominated by monied interest this could play out differently, but that is not the world we live in.

I would say the government they have earned though their level of work.
Reminder that it’s now public knowledge that the US had to warn Iran - through back channels - that Israel was going to attempt to assassinate their negotiators in a deliberate attempt to sabotage the peace process. It wasn’t a subtle attempt either; Israel sent jets into Iranian airspace to shoot down their plane.
Israel is openly working against the US’ interests. They’re basically an enemy nation at this point. And y’all want to hand them more resources and access to all your secrets. OK, sure, good luck with that.

It’s kind of always been that way, right? Reactionary racists wanted a way to get rid of Jews in their country and nationalist Jews wanted an ethnostate. The Christian support for Zionism hinges on their belief that there needs to be a Jewish state in Israel so that everyone there can be converted to Christianity or die.
It goes beyond that. In my country the reactionary politics are Islamists. They too, while giving “boycott Israel” speeches and sometimes throwing weird conspiracy stuff, their own companies enjoy trade with Israel. Some where documented by journalists fo selling steel and even jet fuel!
