*Sender* has appeared on several reviews and posts, which made me quite curious about it. But as far as I understand it has only been shown at a film festival. Does anyone know more about theatres and other media releases?

I was watching Donkey Skin (absolutely gorgeous costuming - the kind of thing we’ll probably never see again) and the ending involves a helicopter showing up out of nowhere. It’s kinda shocking, because the film is set in a sort of fantasy medieval Europe.

i was just thinking about martial arts movies I used to watch. Ones starring Jet Li or Jackie Chan spring to mind. With beautifully choreographed and visually impressive fight scenes. With the notable exception of the John Wick franchise, which I do throughly enjoy, I feel like you don’t see much of that anymore. But maybe they do, and it’s just not on my radar. And I’m thinking less gun fu more kung fu.

It’s sucking up metal and dropping it!

Obviously there’s lots of weird trash in the direct to VHS/DVD/streaming ecosystems, but when it comes to something that actually got a first run theater release, what is your strangest?

I quite liked it. I recommend watching it sometime too.

So I recently decided to watch the movie and I loved it! Trying to make sense of it was as fun as watching it and here’s basically what I was able to put together and evidence supporting my claims:

I just heard Streets of Philadelphia on radio, which made me think of movies where Tom Hanks is in a leading role. I could not think of one I’ve seen where he was not convincing in the role.

I’m wondering what of the oldest films are still watched on a regular basis by a relatively mainstream audience purely for entertainment purposes (as in, not for a film studies class or for the explicit intention of “going through the classics").

I know — I’m late to this party but if you have the traditional Star Wars background and you suddenly gain full access to Andor… just do it! It’s likely in the top ten of all televisions series by itself, but when you top it off with Rogue One… it’s sublime. True art in its finest manifestation! The pairing is simply breathtaking.

We had to stop watching the lost bus. The shaking camera shit is enough to give uit epilepsie, even if you don’t have it. The movie must have been shot by Michael J Fox. Too bad because the story line sounded quite good but after 20 minutes being seasick like on a trawler at Cape Horn, it was enough. Can we just go back to shooting with a normal camera, not a fucking iPhone? Or at least a phone with stability sensors? I’m over this shaking shit.

My one is Terminator the original. I get that the machines they can create a machine, i’ll even given them for creating human blood but one thing that bothered the shit out of me. Is they can probably read and write different languages but how in the hell or why do you make a robot have a german accent?

Let’s be honest, not every movie “needs” to be in 4k, but some really gain from that additional resolution - and that’s ignoring seating position and screen size. What are your favourite movies that you’d recommend in 4K over the same movie in 1080p?
