I love shopping at Aldi. Where else can you go and buy your weekly groceries, a carpet for the living room, and a computer monitor and walk out having spent less than the groceries alone would have cost at a regular supermarket?

Dollar General?

Does that chain do big-ish ticket items? The dollar stores around me have groceries if you use the term loosely enough, but no durable goods that cost more than maybe $5 or $10

I think it depends. I used to go to the dollar store with a friend and his grandmother. We would take her there to get groceries.

I like Aldi ok. But some of their rebranded food is a mixed bag. Trader Joes seems like higher quality to me, but it’s also reflected in their prices.

And i don’t think i’ve ever bought any of the cheap seasonal overstock junk they Aldi puts in the aisles. Most of this stuff just looks like crap you’d get off of Alibaba or Wish or something.

I think it says a lot about the economy in the US that Aldi is really starting to take off here. I know i’ve started seriously looking at store-branded stuff when grocery shopping.
