I have some network resources on my local LAN, which i can access, when i connect to the VPN of my router at home. How can i share this connection with a WiFi hotspot on the same Android device, so that a laptop connected via the WiFi Hotspot, can also access these resources?

Edit: SOLVED. It turns out, I had uninstalled the system package com.android.inputdevices , which is used to locate available keyboard layouts.

EDIT3: this is NOT an overclock! Manually setting a scaling governor does not forcibly increase the intended frequency range of the CPU clock! Setting the scaling governor has more to do with performance management. In my case, setting it to “performance”, it simply forces the cpu to always run at the maximum frequency as designed by the manufacturer. Further reading here and here. Hey, so I have a bunch of items that won’t install, saying they’re not compatible with my device. Thing is, they were all installed prior to my doing a reset. I just needed to get a fresh clean start after lots of testing stuff cluttered things.

I have 2 SIMs: The first one has only data and can’t make calls, the second one can make calls but doesn’t have any data. With the “backup calling” feature, I can make and receive calls over the cellular data of the first SIM if the second is offline. This is useful for me because my phone doesn’t have dual SIM dual active so cellular data stops working if I am making a call. Backup calling requires the phone calls sim to have no signal which I can force by limiting the SIM to 5G. Obviously doing this is not ideal as the phone searches for 5G signal, can’t find it and drains its battery quickly. The weird part is the phone supports 5G and so does the carrier, my account (?) doesn’t support 5G because I don’t have any plans on the SIM. Forcing 2G or 3G won’t work, those are still available where I live.

I have an S23 thats on the latest update. I have been using a third party texting app called Textra, for years now with no issues. Just last week, some of my friends have been trying to send me links but they just don’t go through anymore. It can be any link, Google maps, youtube, Amazon link etc. I also found out that my friends started a group chat with me, but I never received any of the messages. My friends are mostly iphone but some use android also. I found out that if I enable Google messages as my default, everything works fine. And after I enabled Google Messages as my default, the group chats came through in Textra, but the address was an email address

Is there an explanation as to why exatcly update downloads are so slow from the game client in pretty much every game on Android i ever played that had such a thing. Screenshot is from magic arena but i also had this happen in fantasy war tactics and some other games ( cant really remember the games as they were more try and forget they ever existed type of thing ) By comparison the downloads from play store ale blazingly fast . Is that some Android limitation or was i just unlucky and those particular games had shitty servers. Also why are they not keeping the whole game in play store and doing this weird in game updates ( Probably it costs more but i would love confirmation ).

I’m using GrapheneOS, the default Vanadium browser works great but it doesnt block ads. I want to install a 2nd browser just for youtube and my specific Google account for youtube. I also tried Newpipe and similar apps, but they cant use my Google’s playlist and comments. I need them, that is why I think to use a 2nd browser.

Using samsungs android (oneUI). I can configure a sleep mode where the phone is in ‘do not disturb ‘. I can make an exclusion for specific apps, such that notifications from those apps are still shown. But the notification from that all is still silent (visible). I want a sound such that it can wake me in the night.

Over the years I’ve tested out pretty much all the Android keyboards, but swipe typing always kept me on GBoard, even though GBoard did not support voice typing for anything except Google, so I had to switch keyboards for that.

Trust me, I push Signal hard and even donate to it monthly. As I’m sure many of you know, there are always a few contacts who unfortunately refuse to use it.

I’m using e/os and I want to be sure that, when connected to my local network, my local dns server is used, however, no matter what I do, my phone always use google’s one. Is there any way to fix this?

I learned only yesterday that Google is going to effectively shut down open android. So I’m gonna have to move away from there. But what are my options? Is there a nice website that lists and compares alternatives?

It all goes well until brunch, when I get tons of errors about missing manifest xml’s. I can browse to the folder where the xml file should be (the folder exists) but the folder is empty. Where am I supposed to get them??

I’m looking for a file manager or gallery app that will let me browse to particular directories easily (prefer a file manager interface for this), look at images I find in them, and (this seems to be the really hard part) easily rename them while I’m looking at them. I don’t want a conventional gallery app that just presents one huge list of all the folders it found anywhere on my device, as there can be several with the same name, and it’s tedious to figure out what directory each one is under. I need to be able to go to a particular directory, look at the images within, and rename them while looking at them - the quicker & easier the better.

I use dev mode to switch the sensors off. Recently I noticed that after a few days, maybe a week or so, I wasn´t a dev anymore and had to restart dev mode. Does this happen to anybody else? And can I make dev mode permanent again?
