When I figured out that a lot of people are going to spend their better years, wasting away, working jobs they hate every 40 hours of the week and 8 hours a day or longer. That is unless they either have been born with that silver spoon in their mouth or had at least been born with the tools of ambition to develop careers out of it that isn’t just slaving away, making people who’re not them, richer.

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday, Mr Rubio offered partnership between the US and Europe to recolonise the global South. He said: “For five centuries, before the end of the second world war, the West had been expanding — its missionaries, its pilgrims, its soldiers, its explorers pouring out from its shores to cross oceans, settle new continents, build vast empires extending out across the globe.”

It sucks hearing about an upcoming cyberpunk game in an article describing layoffs. A heist shooter in a cyberpunk world actually sounds like a fun idea. It reminds me of the Syndicate reboot from 2012 which had similar missions. That game didn’t deserve the “Syndicate” name but it was a fun game in its own right. I liked it, anyway. What was I talking about? Oh right, Den of Wolves. Here’s the Steam link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1818140/Den_of_Wolves/

Actress Hu Die on the cover of the first issue of Liangyou Magazine (1926)

Community iconc/pics@lemmy.world by

The Young Companion, known as Liángyǒu in Chinese, was a pictorial magazine with captions in both Chinese and English, published in Shanghai, China, between 1926 and 1945. It is regarded as one of the most influential large-scale comprehensive Asian pictorials in the 1920s, and has proven useful to historians in modern times in examining the glamorous side of colonial-era Shanghai. It ran for 174 issues, including two special issues not given monthly issue numbers – the “Sun Yat-sen Memorial Special” and the “Eighth Anniversary”. This is the cover of the first issue of The Young Companion, dated 15 February 1926, and featuring a photograph of the Chinese actress Hu Die.
