Every year I try to get my self excited about watching the gaming summer shows , what use to be E3. This year honestly I just couldn’t. I tried watching a few minutes of both the Sony and Summer Games fest and felt bored. I’m sure a lot of these games these they show will be great. But the way the present most of them honestly doesn’t engage me in the slightest.

EU Tech Package Unveiled: How the EU Plans to Shift to Digital Sovereignty (akingump.com)

Community iconc/technology@lemmy.ml by
technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com

On June 3, 2026, the European Commission released the EU Tech Sovereignty Package. Taken together, its constituent measures represent an effort to reduce reliance on US and other non-EU technology and digital services and to ensure the development of a domestic, low-carbon lifecycle for cutting-edge digital technology. Currently, the EU is heavily reliant on non-EU digital products, services, infrastructure and intellectual property. Among other things, the package aims to further onshore semiconductor manufacturing in the EU, incentivize the development of a domestic European AI industry, provide incentives, including on the demand side, for chips and other technology, and reduce reliance on foreign countries for critical infrastructure and technologies. The package is composed of two legislative proposals (the Chips Act 2.0 and the Cloud and AI Development Act) and two initiatives (the EU Open Source Strategy and Strategic Roadmap for Digitalisation and AI in Energy).

Why are there no hard forks of Firefox, Chromium, WebKit, or other browsers?

WebKit and Chromium are hard forks. The former is a fork of KHTML, and the latter is a hard fork of the former. However, in recent years I’ve only seen soft forks, and as for hard forks, I’ve only seen one with Pale Moon, which hard forked Gecko and named it Goanna due to disagreements with the direction the Mozilla Project was taking.

Howdy! Sorry if this is a supid question. I’ve been trying to get this working for like 5 days and I’ve been researching and reading docs, but I’m just not getting it. I’m fairly new to selfhosing and I’m trying to set up Jellyfin remote access on my NAS. My NAS is a QNAP product running QTS (which I absolutely hate). QTS uses their own weird version of Docker.

China expands its spy networks across the European Union and beyond (english.elpais.com)

Community iconc/europe@feddit.org by
Riddick3001@lemmy.world

Chinese espionage in the European Union and neighboring countries reveals its full scope when certain pieces are connected. The May 20 arrest in Germany of a German couple of Chinese origin who were taking military-technology information from universities is a particularly notable case. But it is only one of many. The episode exposes a strategy of large-scale, coordinated infiltration when placed alongside other arrests in EU member states and neighboring countries. In total, around 30 agents and collaborators have been uncovered in Europe and its vicinity in just the past two years; some were arrested, several expelled, and others are awaiting trial. China typically denies all espionage allegations and describes them as slander.
